Beware: this week we meet on Thursday and in Sandweiler.

Maggie and I will be very happy to welcome you all on Thursday 4 April to a social evening, at the Club’s “home” at 55 am Steffesgaart, Sandweiler.

The evening should be a fairly informal gathering. Come when you like - any time after 18.45. Things that should happen include

  • For the runners, a gentle run out to the legendary beech cathedrals of Neihaischen. Start at 19.00 - it will still be light, as the clocks will have changed. Showers available, bring a towel!
  • For those of you thinking of ordering new club kit, an opportunity (indeed perhaps the final opportunity) to try on the samples Jevgenijs has from the maker, to be sure of getting the right size. (We need to put the order in soon, so that everyone who wants kit can have it before the summer.)
  • A brief word from the Committee about projects, including the Bambesch map
  • The Treasurer to chase up a few outstanding membership fees (this email is being sent to a list that includes those of you who haven’t yet rejoined for 2019 - please do rejoin and support the Club, even if you can’t come on 4 April!)
  • Confirmation of the dates, and more details, of our spring "training events” series, and plans for “events of the month” for those keen enough to travel beyond Luxembourg in search of orange and white flags
  • Plans and briefing from Team Captain Jonas for the ultra-enthusiasts who have signed up to make our 7 person team, to take part in this year’s Jukola Relay near Tampere in Finland, in mid-June
  • An opportunity for those who have travelled recently to share maps, routes and experiences (David is still recovering from the shock of a full-grown,15 metre high tree snapping off 100 metres behind him during the “Interland" race in France last month - orienteering during a half-hurricane was a bit too exciting!) - bring your maps along and admit your navigating errors!
  • The usual plentiful supply of Czech sports drink (otherwise known as beer!), soft drinks, and finger food both healthy and not-so-healthy - as usual, small contributions to augment supplies much appreciated.
