Our 2025 Championships

Plans for the O2Lux event that Luxembourg Orienteering is organising on Sunday 14 December are now well advanced. The event will be based at the Bloc House, the home of Boulder Klub Letzebuerg, in Pfaffenthal, just across the bridge from the bottom of the panoramic lift. It’ll be a great opportunity to run (or walk) on our most challenging terrain, the combined Drei Eechelen and Luxembourg Vieille Ville area.

The event is also our 2025 Championships. As usual, several titles are up for grabs!

Firstly, anyone living in Luxembourg or who is a Luxembourg citizen can be one of our National Champions for 2025. To be the Men’s champion, you must run and be fastest over the Circuit 1 Noir course, and to be the Women’s champion you must run and be fastest over the Circuit 2 Rouge course.

But, to make things more attractive for Luxembourg Orienteering club members who aren’t in their 20’s and don’t have long, fit legs, there is also our Club Championships. Consistent with tradition going back to 2016, who our Club Champions will be is decided using a handicap system. It’s based on data showing how fast each competition class runs relative to the speediest M21s, with adjustments also being made for the length and climb of each course. You should run a course depending on your competition class as follows

• H-18 to H55 - Circuit 1 Noir
• D-16 to D75, H-16, H60 or older - Circuit 2 Rouge
• H and D-14 and younger - Circuit 3 Verte

As there’s a bit of time needed to work out the results, we won’t be awarding prizes on the day. But we will publish the full results soon afterwards.

Full details for the event are attached. Please sign up before the day if you can, but it’s OK to just turn up on the morning – we’ll try not to run out of maps!
