Meet at

55 am Steffesgaart, L-5222 Sandweiler.

Please park in designated parking bays in the nearby streets, not on the pavement, and walk a short way.

Public transport – infrequent, not the greatest… Sandweiler train station is 2.5km away! Buses 411 and 421 come from the Bonnevoie tram terminus or the stop Rocade 3 at the back of the Gare (leaving there at 18.05, 18.15, 18.35, 18.45, 19.04, and 19.14, so the timetables say, with a 12-15-minute ride). Bus 456 comes from the LuxExpo bus station at 18.20, 18.50 and 19.20, with a 10-minute ride). Get off at the “Koschterjanshaff” stop – the last one in Sandweiler, by the Esso station. Walk back up rue Principale for 150 metres, and turn left into am Gronn at the hairdressers, and left again into am Steffesgaart. Buses back to town are as scarce as hen’s teeth – 411 at 31 minutes past the hour, 421 2 minutes later, and a solitary 456 at 21.52!

Safe storage for bags and bikes, toilets. Changing space available.

Start times

18.30 until 19.30 or so. The later you come, the darker it will be!

Start point

Start and finish are both directly outside the meeting point.

Format

Two courses

Rabbit   about 2.5 km – medium, some gentle climb

Deer     about 5 km – longer, a bit more climb, but still gentle

Distances are straight line – optimum routes are about 50% longer.

Controls must be visited in the order set. Flags are 15cm kites – timing at each control using SPORTident (SIAC enabled). Bring your own SI timing chip if you can, but if not, you can borrow a LuxO one.

Timing

Timing of all participants to the nearest second, results will be published on HELGA.

Map

1:7,500, ISOM-ish, 5 metre contours. Laser-printed, on Pretex semi-waterproof paper.

Terrain

All on residential urban streets and paths. Training shoes optimal.

Safety

Everyone takes part entirely at their own risk. Please take great care, especially on or crossing the more main roads. High visibility clothing suitable for dusk/ darkness strongly recommended.

Please stay on after the run for a drink and chat – bring some maps and tell everyone about your summer orienteering experiences. Snacks and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be provided, but any contribution in kind would be much appreciated
