Meet at

9 Allée du Carmel, in the tunnel through the building.

Public transport: Bus 29 or 7 from the Gare Centrale, 7 or 25 from Kirchberg, or 14 from city center (Hamilius/Badanstalt) to bus stop “Carmel”. Walk 150m up Allée du Carmel. Train (towards Wasserbillig) from Gare Centrale is fast, but Cents-Hamm station is still 1 km away (buses 7, 29, and 25 stop at the Cents-Hamm station).

Parking: Good amount of parking spots along Allée du Carmel (free after 18:00) or other nearby streets. There are plenty of usually unoccupied parking spots along the bigger Rue Cents, although many are currently blocked by road works.

Facilities

None, but you can leave bags. The start is covered from possible rain. Delhaize next door has a customer toilet..

Start times

 18:00-19:15. Please aim to finish by 20:00.

Entries

 No fee – but please sign up on the Club website, saying which course you would like to do. Or let orienteer@orienteering.lu know at least a day in advance if you plan to come, and are not a LuxO member. 

Start point

 Start and finish are in the close proximity of the meeting point.

Format

Two courses, Deer (4.7 km) with little climb and Rabbit (3.0 km) with nearly no climb. Distances are straight line. Optimal routes are about 30% longer. Controls must be visited in the order set. Flags are 15cm kites.

Timing

 “Punching” using SPORTident (SIAC enabled). Bring your SI “dibber” if you have one, but if not, you are welcome to borrow one of the club’s. Results will be published, and included in the LuxNUL league table.

Map

1:5000, 5m contours. The map is brand new and still a bit work in progress.

Terrain

Residential area with numerous parks and playgrounds and the Cents school campus. Plenty of small (paved) paths. Most streets and paths have streetlights, but a headlamp is still highly recommended. Overall very little climb.

Safety

 Everyone takes part entirely at their own risk. Please take great care, especially on or crossing the more main roads, around garage entrances with sometimes poor visibility, and around the road works to the west. High visibility clothing strongly recommended.
